Project Info

The Blessed Carlo Acutis project in the Diocese of Cloyne is a pandemic-times project for teenage boys and girls (for ages 13 to 18 yoa, or post-primary, in the Diocese of Cloyne) involving:

  • Appreciating the life and spirituality of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who died of leukaemia in 2006 aged 15, and who had a special devotion to the Eucharist, to the Rosary and to the saints. He was also know as a tech-savvy teen.
  • Viewing his catalogue of Eucharistic Miracles.
  • Following a daily programme of prayer and reading and keeping a personal prayer journal.
  • Guidance by a pastoral team and supported by this website where new teaching videos will appear weekly.
  • There will be a weekly online meeting using zoom where the teenagers meet each other. This meeting will be hosted by at least two of the pastoral team (adults who have been vetted) who will be present on the meeting. Parents are asked to be in the vicinity of their child when the zoom meeting is taking place and they are welcome to join the conference themselves.
  • Resources (books and booklets, including the Project Manual) will be sent to the postal address of each family that registers.
  • Participants will be encouraged to visit their own local parish church for moments of prayer.
  • The project runs from 8th Dec 2020 – 4th April 2021 beginning with a Novena on 8th Dec.
  • Upon registration, participants will be assigned a saint’s name so that privacy can be maintained in the webpages that involve postings. The participant may not be able to use his/her confirmation name or the name of his/her favourite saint if it has already been assigned to someone else.
  • Upon completion of the project, Bishop William Crean will award participants with a certificate. This will be after Easter 2021, at a exact date and location to be decided later.
